Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

The Natural Resources Defense Council's purpose is to safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends.

We work to restore the integrity of the elements that sustain life -- air, land and water -- and to defend endangered natural places.

We seek to establish sustainability and good stewardship of the Earth as central ethical imperatives of human society. NRDC affirms the integral place of human beings in the environment.

We strive to protect nature in ways that advance the long-term welfare of present and future generations.

We work to foster the fundamental right of all people to have a voice in decisions that affect their environment. We seek to break down the pattern of disproportionate environmental burdens borne by people of color and others who face social or economic inequities. Ultimately, NRDC strives to help create a new way of life for humankind, one that can be sustained indefinitely without fouling or depleting the resources that support all life on Earth.

St. Anthony's

St. Anthony Foundation is a social services agency in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco that offers a way out of poverty to the most vulnerable among us: seniors, veterans, the physically disabled, the mentally and addictively ill, the unemployed and underemployed. We were founded in 1950 by Fr. Alfred Boeddeker, a Franciscan priest, and for more than 60 years we have pursued our mission to "feed, heal, shelter, clothe and lift the spirits of those in need, and to create a society where all people flourish."

Through our many programs, we offer our guests a gateway to reclaim their sense of dignity, progress toward stability, and ultimately move out of poverty. In community with volunteers, donors and guests, we work on long-term solutions to poverty while meeting immediate, critical needs.

We will open the New St. Anthony's Dining Room in late 2014. Our new facility will meet the challenges of the 21st century and the increasing need for our services. There will be more space to store more food for longer periods, allowing us to maximize use of large food donations and bargains and ensuring our ability to guarantee ample and nutritious meals for our guests.

The new facility will also house our Social Work Center and Free Clothing Program-thus aligning these services in one building. This alignment is part of our Gateway Strategy that positions the Dining Room as the entry point for our guests to access our programs. Just steps away - and part of our Tenderloin Campus - at 150 Golden Gate Avenue, guests can access St. Anthony Medical Clinic and get computer training and job search assistance at the Tenderloin Technology Lab. Our programs work together to help guests transition to better lives.

The New St. Anthony's Dining Room is a bridge project between the Tenderloin and the new Mid-Market development. It will also be an indispensable part of San Francisco's disaster preparedness plan. In the event of a disaster, St. Anthony's will be equipped to distribute food and water for the community-at-large, treat people with emergency medical needs, and establish a communications and assistance center. We're proud to be able to offer critical services to the most underserved communities.

Shoal Creek Conservancy

Camp Augusta Incorporated

Camp Augusta's mission is to provide children a safe, fun-filled experience that will serve as a catalyst for personal growth and an appreciation of the outdoors. We provide a supportive environment geared toward each child's needs and interests. Our nurturing atmosphere is achieved by limiting our total number of campers per session, increased supervision, and a dedicated and caring staff. In a small, tight, true community set in natural splendor, campers develop self-confidence, independence, social skills (emotional intelligence), creativity, activity skills, environmental awareness and appreciation, friendships, and healthy living skills. Kids also learn what most modern children have forgotten -- how to just play and be a kid without television, video games, the internet, canned games, or social pressure.
